Base pay range

Position Summary:

The Controller is responsible for leading Elite’s accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with GAAP. This role oversees the month-end close, financial audits, AR/AP, payroll accounting, inventory/job costing, and integration between accounting systems and operational platforms (Paylocity, Sedona, TechSchedule, etc.).

The Controller partners closely with the CFO, CEO, department heads, and private equity stakeholders to support financial transparency, operational efficiency, and scalable growth as Elite expands service offerings, RMR accounts, and installation operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead all accounting operations including GL, AR/AP, payroll accounting, fixed assets, prepaids, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Own the month-end and year-end close process; ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
• Prepare internal financial reports, variance analyses, KPI dashboards, and management reports for leadership and private equity.
• Maintain GAAP compliance across all accounting activities.

Internal Controls & Compliance

• Establish and enforce policies, procedures, and internal controls that support a multi-location, high-volume operational environment.
• Maintain compliance with tax regulations, state requirements, annual filings, and audit requests.
• Lead annual financial audits and support lender/PE due diligence requirements.

Cash Management & Forecasting

• Support daily cash management, cash flow forecasting, and working capital optimization.
• Monitor collections, credit risk, and AR aging; partner with operations and customer success to reduce outstanding balances.
• Assist CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.

Operational Accounting & Process Improvement

• Oversee job costing, WIP, inventory accounting, and installation project financials.
• Improve accounting processes and implement efficiencies across systems (QuickBooks, ERP evolution, Paylocity, Sedona, etc.).
• Partner with operations, installations, and service teams to align financial accuracy with field activity, billing, and purchasing.
• Support system conversions, automation initiatives, and future ERP implementation.

Leadership & Team Management

• Supervise and mentor accounting staff (AP, AR, staff accountants).
• Develop a high-performance, deadline-driven accounting function.
• Build training, cross-training, and workflow documentation to ensure continuity and accuracy.

Qualifications:

Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 6+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 2+ years in a senior or leadership role.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and month-end close.
• Experience in multi-entity or multi-location environments.
• Proficiency with accounting systems (QuickBooks Enterprise or equivalent) and Excel.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Preferred:

• CPA or MBA.
• Experience in security, low-voltage installation, SaaS/RMR, or field-service industries.
• Experience supporting private equity reporting.
• ERP implementation or system optimization experience.
