LeoForce in Lawrence, MA, is seeking a permanent Controller to lead our finance function for a nonprofit organization. The role focuses on GAAP-compliant accounting, robust internal controls, and strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities include overseeing ledgers, budgeting, audits, and cash flow forecasting, while developing the finance team and partnering with leadership to optimize program operations. A CPA or master’s degree is preferred alongside 5+ years in senior finance roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline; Master’s or CPA desirable.

• Proven experience with ledger operations and annual budgeting.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, accounting standards, laws and regulations.

Job Details

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Permanent Controller to join our dynamic team in the non-profit industry. This is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with a strong background in finance, accounting, and management.

Responsibilities

1. 1. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
2. 2. Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, and both team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
3. 3. Coordinate all audit activity and liaise with external auditors.
4. 4. Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
5. 5. Lead the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
6. 6. Manage organizational cash flow forecasting by working in partnership with the executive leadership team; continuously collaborate with team members to assess the financial efficacy of program operations and establish finance and administrative systems to support operations.
7. 7. Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities, and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

Qualifications

7. 7. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
8. 8. Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise manner.
