Job summary

Continental Manufacturing Chemist is seeking a Controller to report to the President and oversee all financial management and reporting functions, ensuring GAAP compliance and integrity of financial systems.

The role leads budgeting, treasury, audits, and internal controls, mentors the accounting and HR team, and partners with executive leadership to guide strategic decisions and drive operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, CPA/CMA preferred.
• Minimum 7 years financial management experience, with 3+ years in leadership within manufacturing.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and compliance.
• Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead the financial reporting process, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements per GAAP.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide financial strategy.
• Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting.
• Develop and implement internal financial controls and procedures.
• Collaborate with the executive team on strategic plans and financial insights.
• Direct audits and liaise with external auditors for timely compliance.
• Oversee treasury functions including cash and debt management.
• Mentor and develop the accounting and HR team.
• Oversee HR department and payroll processing backup.
• Partner with HR and the insurance broker on renewals and coverage reviews.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Job Title: Controller

Oversees: Accounting Specialist, Human Resources Manager

This role is on-site (preferred), but open to hybrid consideration for the right candidate.

Summary: As the Controller, you will report directly to the President and have responsibility and oversight for all financial management and reporting functions, ensuring the integrity of our financial systems and compliance with regulatory standards. The Controller will play a vital role in strategic decision-making while providing insights to support the company's financial health and operational efficiency.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead the financial reporting process, including the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide the company's financial strategy and operational plans.
• Manage accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.
• Develop and implement internal financial controls and procedures to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
• Collaborate with the executive team to develop strategic plans and provide financial insights to support business growth initiatives.
• Direct audits and liaise with external auditors to ensure timely completion and adherence to compliance standards.
• Oversee treasury functions, including cash management, debt management, and financial risk mitigation.
• Mentor and develop the accounting and HR team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
• Oversee Human Resources (HR) department and serve as payroll-processing back up.
• Partner with HR and the commercial insurance broker to oversee insurance programs, including renewals, claims, and coverage reviews.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Education and/or Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• A minimum of 7 years of financial management experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role within manufacturing or similar industry.
• Proven expertise in financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting and compliance.
• Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
