Job summary

Palmer Group in Iowa is seeking a Controller to manage accounting operations, drive continuous improvement, and lead budgeting and forecasting efforts. The role requires 8+ years of progressive accounting experience and strong ERP knowledge.

You will oversee month-end close, ensure GAAP-compliant reporting, and develop key financial metrics while partnering with Operations to pursue profitability improvements. This on-site position offers a competitive compensation package and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience.
• Strong ERP systems knowledge.
• CPA and/or MBA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and optimize accounting operations, policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Manage outsourced accounting functions and develop a high-performing team through cross-functional training
• Oversee month-end close processes, account reconciliations, customer setup, and billing accuracy
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
• Develop and report key financial and operational metrics
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and profitability reporting processes
• Provide financial analysis, business insights, and performance recommendations, particularly for the Aftermarket business segment
• Partner with Operations to identify revenue, expense, and profitability improvement opportunities
• Coordinate audit support and ensure compliance with external reporting requirements
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting processes and field operations

This role will oversee month-end close processes, ensure financial reporting compliance, provide financial analysis, and lead budgeting and forecasting. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, 8+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, and strong knowledge of ERP systems.
