Job description

We’re Growing Fast. Our Financial Operations Need to Keep Up.

National Fleet Management isn't standing still. We're expanding into new markets, growing our operations, adding teammates, and supporting commercial fleets across nine states. That kind of growth requires more than accurate books. It requires strong financial leadership.

We're looking for a Controller who can own the day-to-day accounting operation, strengthen processes, develop the team, and help build the financial infrastructure needed to support where we're going next.

If you like walking into a growing organization, finding opportunities to make things better, and actually having the authority to do something about them—keep reading.

About National Fleet Management

National Fleet Management is one of the fastest-growing heavy-duty truck service companies in the Southeast, providing comprehensive fleet maintenance and repair solutions to commercial fleets across nine states.

With multiple full-service repair facilities, a growing fleet of mobile service trucks, and continued expansion into new markets, we're committed to one thing:

Keeping America's fleets moving.

And behind that operation, we need a finance team that's just as strong.

The Opportunity
Salary: $105,000-$135,000 annually

Based on experience and qualifications

This isn't a back-office role where you'll simply inherit processes and keep them running. You'll have the opportunity to improve them. You’ll report directly to our Chief Financial Officer and play a key leadership role across National Fleet Management and Heavy Duty Truck Supply.

You’ll help determine how we strengthen controls, improve reporting, streamline processes, develop our accounting team, and build a finance operation capable of supporting continued growth.

You'll also receive:
  • Annual performance bonus opportunity
  • Direct partnership with the CFO and company leadership
  • Opportunity to shape financial processes across a growing, multi-location organization
What You’ll Own

You’ll help make sure leadership has accurate, timely financial information to make smart decisions.

You’ll:

  • Lead month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reports.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, audits, and compliance.
Accounting Operations

Strong financial leadership starts with getting the fundamentals right—every time.

You’ll:

  • Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Accounting functions.
  • Ensure accurate inventory accounting and intercompany reconciliations.
  • Improve billing accuracy and strengthen financial reporting processes.
  • Monitor purchase order compliance and vendor management.
Build Better Processes

If your favorite phrase is "there has to be a better way to do this," you'll fit right in. We're looking for someone who doesn't just work within a process but evaluates whether that process still makes sense.

You’ll:

  • Strengthen internal controls and standardize accounting procedures.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Identify inefficiencies and opportunities for automation.
  • Help create scalable accounting processes that can grow with the organization.
Lead the Team

Numbers matter. So do the people behind them.

You’ll:

  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members.
  • Establish clear expectations and accountability.
  • Build strong partnerships with Operations, Parts, Service, and executive leadership.
  • Promote collaboration and continuous improvement throughout the department.
What You’ll Bring

We're looking for someone who can zoom in far enough to catch a reconciliation issue and zoom out far enough to understand what the numbers mean for the business.

You should bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Experience with inventory accounting and ERP or dealer management systems.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • A continuous improvement mindset with a focus on accuracy, accountability, and teamwork.
Even Better If You Have:
  • CPA certification.
  • Multi-location accounting experience.
  • Heavy-duty truck, fleet maintenance, dealership, or parts distribution industry experience.
  • Experience implementing accounting systems or leading process improvements.
Why You’ll Love Working Here

National Fleet Management offers a competitive benefits package designed to support the health, financial well-being, and professional growth of our team members.

  • Health, Dental & Vision Insurance - Affordable plans for individuals and families.
  • Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) options.
  • 401(k) Profit Sharing Retirement Plan with employer match.
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and Paid Holidays.
  • Disability Insurance and Company-Paid Life Insurance.
  • Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
  • Pet Insurance.
  • Boot & Safety Glasses Reimbursement.
  • Ongoing Product & Application Training.
  • Career Growth Opportunities - We promote from within.
Don't Just Close the Books. Help Build What's Next.

We're not looking for someone who wants to sit on the sidelines of the business. We want a Controller who asks questions. Who sees a manual process and thinks about automation. Who catches the details but doesn't lose sight of the bigger picture. Who can challenge the way something has always been done—and build something better. And who wants to grow as the company grows.

Whether your career ultimately leads to CFO, executive leadership, or another strategic finance role, you’ll have an opportunity to make a measurable impact on the organization you’re helping build.

National Fleet Management is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to creating a workplace where all qualified applicants receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, genetic information, or any other legally protected characteristic.

We believe diverse perspectives strengthen our teams, improve decision-making, and help us better serve our customers across all markets.

Drug-Free Workplace

National Fleet Management maintains a drug-free workplace. Employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a background check and compliance with applicable drug and alcohol policies, including pre-employment and post-incident testing, where permitted by law.
