Job summary

Scorpio is seeking a Controller to lead financial operations, strengthen controls, and support strategic decisions as we scale our construction projects.

The Controller will report to the CFO and oversee job costing, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting while partnering with project managers and executives.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in construction.
• Experience working with revenues of $200 million or more.
• Strong understanding of construction job costing, WIP reporting, and labor allocations.
• Familiarity with labor burdens and cost allocations.

Responsibilities

• Refine internal control frameworks with proper segregation of duties.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and reporting with project alignment.
• Ensure monthly balance sheet accounts are analyzed and acted on.
• Establish and maintain A/R quality standards for collections.
• Drive accurate time reporting to support project forecasting and payroll.
• Conduct financial due diligence to identify operational risks.
• Translate strategy so teams understand their roles.
• Manage work independently while coaching team members.

WhatYouWillDo:

• Refineinternalcontrolframeworks,ensuringappropriatesegregationofduties,invoiceapprovalworkflows,andaccurateaccumulationoffinancialdata.
• Overseebudgeting,forecasting,andreportingwhilepartneringwithoperationstoensureaccuracyacrossWIPschedules,regionalprojections,andprojectmilestones
• Ensurebalancesheetaccountsareproperlyanalyzedeachmonthandthattimelycorrectiveactionistakenwhenrequired.
• EstablishandmaintainA/Rqualitystandards,focusingonpromptcollections,zerodelinquentreceivables,andminimalunbilledcosts.
• Drivetimely,accuratetimereportingtosupportpreciseprojectforecasting,payrollprocessing,andlaborburdenallocations.
• Conductfinancialduediligencetoproactivelyidentify,report,andmitigateoperationalrisks
• Translateorganizationalstrategy,ensuringteammembersunderstandtheirroleinachievingbroadercompanygoals.
• Manageworkindependentlywhilesupportingthecareerdevelopmentandcoachingofteammembers.
