Job summary

Wiseda Corporation is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting team and oversee financial reporting for a diverse group of affiliated companies and family entities. This on-site role is in southwest Fort Worth and emphasizes both technical accounting and people leadership.

The ideal candidate will bring 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong GAAP knowledge, and a collaborative leadership style to build relationships across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with substantial coursework
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3–5 years leading staff
• Experience with multi-entity accounting and financial statement consolidations
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, depreciation, and book-versus-tax differences
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax requirements
• Accounting systems aptitude and ability to troubleshoot financial systems
• Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis
• Solid analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Sound professional judgment and ability to question information when necessary
• Strong communication skills to explain complex financial matters clearly and tactfully
• CPA designation preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-entity accounting, financial reporting, monthly and year-end close, and financial statement consolidations
• Review complex accounting transactions, intercompany activity, fixed assets, reconciliations, and other financial information for accuracy
• Oversee tax, audit, and regulatory compliance activities with outside CPAs and advisors
• Provide accounting support for family office activities, including tax-related matters, investments, trusts, and estate planning
• Lead, coach, and develop a small accounting team of accountants and bookkeepers
• Serve as a trusted accounting resource to company Presidents and leaders
• Troubleshoot complex accounting and financial system issues and improve processes, controls, reporting, and workflows
• Research unfamiliar or unusual accounting and tax matters and know when outside expertise should be engaged
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion with sensitive business, family, and personal financial information

Located in southwest Fort Worth, this is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys both the technical side of accounting and the people side of leading a small team. Our ideal candidate is a strong accountant who is naturally curious, comfortable digging into unusual or complex issues, and willing to ask questions when something doesn't look right. Just as importantly, we're looking for someone who is collaborative, approachable, and able to build strong working relationships across the organization.

What You'll Do

• Lead multi-entity accounting, financial reporting, monthly and year-end close, and financial statement consolidations.
• Review complex accounting transactions, intercompany activity, fixed assets, reconciliations, and other financial information for accuracy and appropriate accounting treatment.
• Oversee tax, audit, and regulatory compliance activities and coordinate with outside CPAs and other professional advisors.
• Provide accounting and financial support for family office activities, including tax-related matters, investments, trusts, and estate-planning support.
• Lead, coach, and develop a small accounting team consisting of accountants and bookkeepers.
• Serve as a trusted accounting resource to company Presidents, leadership, and affiliated organizations.
• Troubleshoot complex accounting and financial system issues and help improve processes, controls, reporting, and workflows.
• Research unfamiliar or unusual accounting and tax matters and know when outside expertise should be engaged.
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discretion with sensitive business, family, and personal financial information.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field with substantial accounting coursework.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 3 to 5 years leading or supervising accounting staff.
• Demonstrated experience with multi-entity accounting and financial statement consolidations.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, intercompany accounting, fixed assets, depreciation, and book-versus-tax differences.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax requirements.
• Accounting systems aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot financial systems and processes.
• Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables, and financial data analysis.
• Solid analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Sound professional judgment and the confidence to appropriately question or challenge information when necessary.
• Strong communication skills and an ability to explain complex financial matters clearly and tactfully.

CPA designation is preferred but not required. Tax preparation or significant tax compliance experience is also helpful, as is experience working with multiple entity types, industries, and ownership structures.

Oracle NetSuite experience is preferred, but we are equally interested in candidates who have strong systems aptitude and can quickly learn, troubleshoot, and work effectively across different accounting platforms.
