Job summary

Jobot seeks an experienced Controller for a commercial construction environment in Fort Worth, TX. You will lead the accounting team, manage ERP operations, and ensure accurate monthly closes and financial reporting.

Qualified candidates have 5+ years in commercial construction accounting, strong ERP skills, and expertise in job costing and WIP reporting. Vista by Viewpoint is a plus; CPA preferred. This is an on-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of commercial construction accounting management experience.
• Strong ERP experience and ownership of month-end close processes.
• Experience with job costing and WIP reporting.
• Vista by Viewpoint experience preferred.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Prior Controller experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts monthly and ensure accuracy of GL analyses.
• Manage and mentor accounting team; oversee ERP system usage and financial procedures.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, reports, and annual budgets.
• Oversee job costing, A/R/ A/P processes, and revenue recognition.
• Coordinate with external auditors and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.

Job Details

Position Overview: Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will be responsible in maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of the company’s reports and statements, management of the accounting team, and management of the ERP system.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank accounts monthly
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and analyze for discrepancies
• Record and reconcile credit card accounts
• Maintain bank note schedules and reconciliations
• Make AR deposits and record them in the ERP
• Maintain files and documentation thoroughly and accurately, in accordance with company policy and accepted accounting practices
• Account reconciliation reviews and resolution of aging items.
• Overseeing 3rd party claims and hull claims with insurance companies
• Perform quarterly balance sheet and P&L fluctuation analysis;
• Review and analyze financial data from various revenue sources
• Work with a variety of banking institutions to open accounts, order checks and setup online access

Job Costing

• Prepare Pre-lien filing for construction projects
• Prepare supplier lien waivers and track to ensure timely receipt
• Oversee setup new jobs and ensure estimates are set up in the ERP
• Fixed asset accounting
• Asset requisitions (ARs)

Annual Closing

• Preparation of annual financial plans and rolling forecasts
• Preparation of financial statements and reporting to all statutory entities
• Prepare/gather materials related to construction and cost accounting matters for external auditors
• Provide assistance to the external auditors as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
• 5+ years commercial construction accounting management experience
• Job costing

• Strong ERP experience
• Ability to own and manage month end close process
