Job summary

CFS in Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations in a fast-paced retail environment. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience at Controller or Assistant Controller level.
• Experience in retail, consumer products, beauty, cosmetics, or distribution preferred.
• Strong inventory accounting and financial reporting understanding.
• Experience with growth and increasing operational complexity.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools.
• Hands-on, detail-oriented leadership with strong business judgment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes and financial statement preparation.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and reconciliations.
• Manage cash flow forecasting, reporting, and working capital.
• Oversee inventory accounting and support the financial reporting needs of a retail/distribution business.
• Manage payroll, intercompany accounting, and related financial processes.
• Prepare financial analysis, reporting, and insights for senior leadership.
• Develop and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, supply chain, and other business leaders.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audit, tax, and other financial initiatives.

• Strong understanding of inventory accounting and financial reporting
• Experience working with companies experiencing growth and increasing operational complexity
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial reporting tools
• Hands-on, detail-oriented leadership style with strong business judgment
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
