Job summary

Qualifications

• CPA or equivalent strongly preferred or equivalent experience.
• Progressive controllership experience with proven people leadership.
• Broad technical command of accounting and financial reporting.
• Experience with inventory businesses and recurring revenue models.
• Experience with ERP and ecommerce systems; scaling a finance team through growth.
• Familiarity with AI and automation tools in finance; AI savvy is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accountants, financial analysts and other finance professionals.
• Own month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate and timely financial statements.
• Oversee general ledger, AP, AR, payroll accounting, fixed assets and revenue recognition.
• Manage inventory accounting, including costing, reserves, physical counts and COGS.
• Oversee accounting for subscription revenue, including deferred revenue and recurring billing.
• Manage financial relationships with third-party manufacturers, including cost tracking and vendor reconciliation.
• Reconcile ecommerce platform and payment processor activity, including refunds and sales tax.
• Maintain internal controls and manage audit, tax and banking relationships.
• Partner with executive leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and working capital.
• Improve systems and processes to scale with growth, applying automation and AI tools to reporting and analysis.

A fast-growing, $100M direct-to-consumer health and wellness company is hiring a Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting function. The role is based out of the company's headquarters and can be local or remote.

The Role

The Controller will own accounting and finance operations and lead a team of accountants, financial analysts and other finance professionals. Leadership wants a sharp, versatile finance leader who is strong across every function of the controllership and comfortable in a fast-moving, product-driven business.
