Job summary

LHH has partnered with a growing construction company to identify an experienced Controller who will lead the accounting and finance functions. Reporting to the CFO, this role oversees financial reporting, project accounting, cash flow management, and team leadership while driving process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include mentoring the accounting team, managing close processes, overseeing AP/AR/GL, project cost tracking, and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and project costing.
• Experience leading accounting teams of 5+ people.
• Experience with revenue recognition and cash flow management.

LHH has partnered with a growing, construction company to identify an experienced Controller who will play a critical role in leading the company's accounting and finance functions. Reporting to the CFO, this individual will oversee financial reporting, project accounting, cash flow management, and team leadership while providing strategic insight. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on finance professional who enjoys partnering across departments and driving process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities of this Controller position include:

• Mentor, develop, and lead an accounting team on day-to-day accounting and financial operations.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely financial reporting.
• Oversee accounts payables, receivables, general ledger activities, reconciliations, and financial reporting accuracy.
• Direct project accounting, cost tracking, revenue recognition, and profitability analysis.
• Monitor cash flow, collections, receivables, and overall financial performance.
• Strengthen internal controls, approval processes, and risk management procedures.
• Support CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
• Prior experience within construction, engineering, manufacturing, or other project-based industries.
• 5+ years of experience managing accounting teams.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, project costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and cash flow management.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with SAGE 100 is a plus.
• Proven ability to improve processes, lead teams, and meet critical deadlines.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional, high integrity, and attentive to details.
