Job description

Strategic Talent Partners is partnering with a client in Eden Prairie on a confidential search for a Controller to provide leadership across accounting and finance. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for financial reporting, close processes, cash flow oversight, budgeting and forecasting, audit coordination, and leading the finance team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership, management, and accountability for the finance team.
  • Monitor cash flow, including determining timely vendor payments, monitoring receivables for delinquent accounts, and supporting collections efforts.
  • Prepare general ledger entries, analytical reviews, and monthly financial statements.
  • Ensure monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes are completed accurately and on time.
  • Complete required journal entries and account reconciliations to ensure the accuracy of financial results.
  • Prepare the annual budget and ongoing forecasts.
  • Compare monthly results to budget and forecast, researching and explaining significant variances.
  • Serve as the liaison with external auditors and income tax preparers and provide information needed to support timely completion.
  • Ensure bank reporting is completed as required by applicable credit agreements.
  • Analyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, cash flow statements, and income statements.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce costs and improve margins across the business.
Leadership Responsibilities
  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train finance team members as needed.
  • Oversee the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provide constructive and timely performance feedback and evaluations.
  • Address performance and employee relations matters in accordance with company policy.
What We Are Looking For
  • Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including financial reporting, general ledger, and month-end close preferred.
  • At least 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience within a finance or accounting function.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with keen attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced and, at times, demanding environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • This position is based onsite in Eden Prairie, Minnesota.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
