Job summary

Lionheart Enterprises, LLC is seeking a mid-level Cost Accountant to join our Utah plant. You will maintain standard cost, analyze variances in material, labor, and overhead, and partner with production managers to identify root causes.

You will oversee monthly cycle counts, inventory valuations, and obsolescence tracking; assist with month-end close, journal entries, and plant P&L alignment; drive continuous improvement to reduce labor waste and margin leaks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3–6 years of accounting experience in manufacturing or cost accounting.
• Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel data modeling.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the standard cost system and analyze daily/weekly variances.
• Oversee monthly cycle counts, raw material and WIP valuations, and obsolescence tracking.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and plant P&L for month-end close.
• Assist in building the annual plant operating budget and track CapEx.
• Drive continuous improvement by identifying labor inefficiencies and margin leaks on the shop floor.

Position Summary

Compensation & Leveling

• Salary Range: $75,000 – $85,000 (dependent on experience)
• Target Experience Level: Mid-level / Emerging Controller (approx. 3 to 6 years of experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Cost Accounting & Variances: Maintain the standard cost system, analyze daily/weekly material, labor, and overhead variances, and partner with production managers to investigate root causes.
• Inventory Valuations: Oversee monthly cycle counts, raw material and WIP valuations, and inventory obsolescence tracking.
• Month-End Close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and plant P&L statements in alignment with corporate close schedules.
• Operational Budgeting: Assist in building the annual plant operating budget, tracking CapEx projects, and monitoring departmental spend against forecasts.
• Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying labor inefficiencies, equipment utilization gaps, and margin leaks on the shop floor.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA, CMA, or MBA is a plus but not required for this tier.
• Experience: 3 to 6 years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years spent in a manufacturing or industrial cost accounting environment.
• Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Epicor, NetSuite, SAP Business One) and intermediate-to-advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, data modeling).
• Soft Skills: Strong communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-financial plant supervisors and production leads.
