This high-volume hospitality environment requires hands-on, collaborative leadership of a small accounting team, reporting to the CFO and partnering with department leaders. The ideal candidate has progressive hospitality finance leadership, oversees over $30 million in revenue, leads audits, ensures GAAP compliance, and drives systems improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • CPA designation is preferred but not required.
  • Progressive accounting leadership experience in hospitality services.
  • Experience overseeing financial operations for organizations with $30M+ annual revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all daily accounting operations and ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reconciliations, journal entries, and analyses.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial planning.
  • Lead annual external audits and coordinate with auditors and tax professionals.
  • Ensure GAAP compliance and robust internal controls.
  • Supervise and develop the accounting team; mentor staff.
  • Review payroll, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and credit card activity.
  • Monitor inventory controls, COGS, and other cost metrics.
  • Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance and operational analytics.
  • Support capital projects and construction accounting; drive accounting system improvements.

Job description

An award-winning, financially strong private club in South Florida is seeking an experienced Controller to join its executive leadership team. This is an outstanding opportunity for an accounting professional who thrives in a high-volume hospitality environment and is looking for a long-term leadership position with a clear path toward advancement.

Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, the Controller will oversee the day-to-day accounting operations while serving as a strategic business partner to department leaders across the organization. The successful candidate will be hands-on, highly collaborative, and comfortable leading a small but high-performing accounting team in a service-focused culture.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all daily accounting operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting analyses.
  • Assist with annual budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and cash flow management.
  • Lead the annual financial audit and coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Review payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and corporate credit card activity.
  • Monitor food and beverage inventory, cost of goods, and other operational financial metrics.
  • Partner with department leaders to provide financial guidance and operational analysis.
  • Support capital improvement projects and construction accounting as needed.
  • Play a key role in implementing new financial systems and improving accounting processes.
Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will bring a strong hospitality finance background along with outstanding interpersonal skills.

Qualified candidates will possess:

  • Progressive accounting leadership experience within a private club, resort, hotel, or other complex hospitality operation.
  • Experience overseeing financial operations for organizations with approximately $30 million or more in annual revenue.
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage financial reporting, inventory controls, and cost management.
  • Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • A collaborative leadership style with the flexibility to adapt in a team-oriented culture.
  • Strong analytical abilities and advanced Excel skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline. CPA designation is preferred but not required.
