Job summary

6AM City, LLC is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations within a real estate development context. This role partners with executive management and external stakeholders, overseeing accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including leadership responsibilities.
  • Combination of corporate accounting experience and industry experience within real estate development, construction, real estate investment, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with executives, investors, lenders, auditors, and operational teams.
  • Strategic mindset with hands-on capability when needed.
  • Strong systems knowledge and proficiency with ERP/accounting platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow analysis, and financial planning activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
  • Partner with executive leadership to provide financial insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, investors, and other business partners.
  • Oversee corporate accounting functions while supporting development and project-related accounting activities.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead the accounting team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory requirements.

This position offers the opportunity to play a key leadership role within the organization, partnering closely with executive management and external stakeholders while overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls.


The ideal candidate will bring a combination of corporate accounting experience and industry experience within real estate development, construction, or related sectors. Key Responsibilities
