Job summary

Conexus in Costa Mesa, CA is seeking a Controller to lead the accounting operations of a high-growth SaaS company approaching $1B in revenue. Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will lead a local accounting team and help build scalable systems and processes to support rapid expansion.

The ideal candidate has strong ASC 606 expertise, prior software/tech leadership, and a track record of developing accounting teams while ensuring GAAP compliance across hardware, software and services revenue.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Strong ASC 606 revenue recognition experience.
• Experience managing and developing an accounting team.
• Experience in Software/SaaS or technology environment.
• CPA license highly desired.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and ERP systems experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the month-end close process end-to-end, driving accuracy and efficiency improvements.
• Prepare and deliver financial reporting packages (P&L, management reporting, budget-to-actual).
• Ensure GAAP compliance across reporting including ASC 606 revenue recognition across hardware, software, and services.
• Oversee accounts receivable, billing operations, and data integrity across financial systems.
• Monitor financial performance and surface risks to executive leadership.
• Lead a billing systems migration and act as Finance's technical owner during the transition.
• Develop and mentor onshore and offshore accounting professionals.
• Coordinate external audit readiness and delivery of supporting schedules.

Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, this role will lead a local accounting team while playing a critical role in building scalable systems and processes to support the company's continued expansion. The ideal candidate must have strong technical expertise in revenue recognition (ASC 606) and prior team leadership experience within a Software/Tech environment.

Responsibilities:

• Own the month-end close process end-to-end, driving accuracy, completeness, and ongoing efficiency improvements
• Prepare and deliver financial reporting packages, including business unit P&L, management reporting, and budget-to-actual analysis
• Ensure GAAP compliance across all reporting, including multi-element revenue recognition across hardware, software, and services revenue streams
• Oversee accounts receivable, billing operations, and data integrity across financial systems
• Monitor financial performance, proactively surfacing trends and risks to executive leadership
• Co-lead a major billing systems migration, serving as Finance's technical owner throughout the transition
• Identify and resolve billing automation gaps, establishing clear Finance-owned policies and controls
• Build and maintain a centralized reporting framework covering recurring revenue, churn, and other key financial metrics
• Serve as Finance's technical lead on core financial systems, including ERP ownership and related module implementations
• Partner with internal AI and automation teams to streamline accounting processes and accelerate close cycles
• Lead, develop, and mentor a team of onshore and offshore accounting professionals
• Coordinate the external audit process, ensuring audit readiness and timely delivery of supporting schedules
• Manage banking relationships and serve as a key point of contact for external financial partners
• Strengthening internal controls and financial policies to keep pace with the company's rapid growth

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Strong technical accounting background with hands-on ASC 606 revenue recognition experience is required
• Prior experience managing and developing an accounting team is required
• Experience in a Software/SaaS or technology environment is required
• Experience leading ERP system implementations is highly desired
• CPA license highly desired
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and major accounting software/ERP systems
