Role Overview

The company is seeking a seasoned, high-level Controller to oversee and optimize the accounting operations. Reporting to both the Founder and fractional CFO, this role will play a key part in financial reporting, GAAP compliance, and strategic insight across a $13M revenue operation. This is a remote role with periodic in-person meetings in the Denver metro area.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting and Financial Reporting

• Have final responsibility for full-cycle accounting.
• Own all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, ensuring full GAAP compliance.
• Prepare and review journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account analyses.
• Conduct sales tax filings and manage tax compliance in partnership with external advisors.
• Manage operational expense tracking, including detailed OPEX and insurance cost analysis.
• Support PEO journal entries; payroll is handled externally but requires accurate recording.

Cross-Functional and Strategic Leadership

• Collaborate with fractional CFO and founder on cash flow forecasting.
• Participate in quarterly executive meetings, offering insights into growth and cost-saving opportunities.

Team Structure

• Reports to: Founder & Fractional CFO
• Collaborates with: Operations (Nancy), Admin, and Logistics teams

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• Minimum 5+ years of experience; full-cycle accounting experience required
• Proficiency in Excel and general ledger systems
• Experience with PEO structures, sales tax, and high-transaction environments
• Excellent attention to detail
