Qualifications

  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory experience, preferably in a nonprofit environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, fund accounting, grant compliance, and IRS Form 990.
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the organization.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash flow, and bank reconciliations.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor organizational performance against the budget.
  • Prepare financial forecasts and provide recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, nonprofit accounting standards, and all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
  • Present financial information and reports to executive leadership.
  • Monitor organizational cash reserves and investment accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and operational efficiencies.
