Job summary

O’Gara Coach Company is seeking a Controller to oversee financial, administrative, and risk management operations. You will manage multiple brands, design control systems, and ensure accurate reporting of financial results in a fast-paced dealership environment.

The role requires 5+ years of automotive accounting, a Bachelor’s in a related field, and strong Excel skills. You will lead a team, coordinate audits, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• 5+ years automotive dealership accounting experience including supervisory responsibilities.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience with accounting procedures, financial reporting, and general ledger management.
• Experience with paperless systems and process improvements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly financial statements per O’GARA guidelines.

Job description

Controller will be accountable for the financial, administrative, and risk management operations of O’Gara Coach Company, LLC, including the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve O’Gara’s assets and report accurate financial results.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Minimum of 5 years of automotive dealership accounting experience, including office management or supervisory responsibilities
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
• Strong understanding of dealership accounting procedures, financial reporting, and general ledger management
• Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume dealership environment
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
• Strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality
• Experience with Reynolds & Reynolds Dealer Management System (DMS), Tekion, and Paylocity
• Previous experience overseeing accounting operations for multiple automotive brands or dealerships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other accounting software
• Experience implementing efficient accounting processes and utilizing paperless systems

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare complete financial statements monthly according to O’GARA guidelines and within a multiple manufacturers’ format and time frame
• Interpret financial statement activity, including the daily operating control (DOC), regularly and inform the Corporate Controller of developing trends
• Meet with Corporate Controller to evaluate and design effective processes and procedures around directives received from Executive team
• Work in a positive, collaborative, and supportive relationship with the General Manager of O’GARA on a regular, daily basis
• Coordinate the preparation of all information requested by CPA for annual audit and physical inventory to minimize costs
• Provide department managers support and coordination of issues surrounding the flow of information to and from the business office
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts with outside sources to ensure proper bank reconciliation, reserve accounts, factory payable, and floor plan payable
• Partner with management to implement recommendations to ensure compliance
• Supervise Business Manager/Office and assist with day-to-day decisions to ensure all office personnel are using proper accounting procedures and maintaining accurate records
• Maintain an effective cash management system to ensure covenant requirements are met
• Ensure O’GARA privacy compliance as it relates to Federal and State regulations for Sales, Service, F&I and Parts Department
• Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state and local financial regulations, including filing and/or maintaining of required forms, payroll taxes and deposits, income taxes, retirement plan records, etc.

Compensation: $165k - $189k/ annually (depending on experience)
