Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Oversee GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, and fixed assets.
• Manage manufacturing and cost accounting (COGS, standard costing, overhead, variances).
• Partner with operations to improve visibility into production costs, margins, and profitability.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial planning.
• Oversee inventory accounting and valuation across manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate external audits, tax requirements, and compliance activities.
• Identify opportunities to automate accounting processes in the ERP environment.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team and partner with executive leadership.

Expected Duration: Permanent, full-time

Compensation: $160,000-$190,000 base salary + bonus potential

Position Overview

An established and growing manufacturing organization in the Austin area is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This position will have significant ownership over financial reporting, operational accounting, cost controls, and the continued development of processes that support the company's growth.

Key Priorities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee all general accounting activities, including GL, AP, AR, reconciliations, and fixed assets.
• Manage manufacturing and cost accounting, including inventory, COGS, standard costing, overhead, and variance analysis.
• Partner with operations and supply chain leadership to improve visibility into production costs, margins, and profitability.
• Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial planning.
• Oversee inventory accounting and ensure accurate valuation across manufacturing operations.
• Coordinate external audits, tax requirements, and other compliance-related activities.
• Identify opportunities to automate and improve accounting processes through the company's ERP environment.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while serving as a key financial partner to executive leadership.
• The ideal candidate will bring strong Controller-level experience within a manufacturing environment, with a deep understanding of cost accounting, inventory, operational finance, and financial reporting. Experience with NetSuite or another manufacturing-focused ERP system would be highly preferred.
