Caterpillar's Clayton, NC team is hiring a Control Systems Engineer to develop, validate and enhance electro-mechanical systems for Backhoe Loaders. You will lead the integration of electrical and mechanical subsystems, design software controls, and prototype mechatronic devices to meet performance goals.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, CS, or materials science, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with global teams.

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to diverse teams.
• Experience with troubleshooting electrical, software, and mechanical issues.
• Experience coordinating with global teams in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Design advanced electrical control systems and integrate electrical and mechanical components.
• Develop software and procedures to control electro-mechanical devices and mechatronics.
• Prototype mechatronic devices with motors, sensors, and actuation.
• Identify weaknesses in products and drive improvements.
• Validate software controls and display functions on Backhoe Loader platforms.
• Operate multiple BHL models and configurations and troubleshoot issues.
