Job summary

Salt River Project (SRP) is seeking a Control Room Operator-Tempe for our Kyrene Generating Plant in Tempe, Arizona. This entry-level training role involves learning to operate and monitor a diverse set of power generation units and equipment, with potential progression to Operator Specialist.

The role requires completion of the OST curriculum within two years, with supervision, and may include additional site duties beyond core plant operations.

Qualifications

• Must complete at least one year as an O&M Specialist III, Operations or equivalent skills and knowledge
• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
• Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.
• Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit test and training required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate and monitor equipment and auxiliaries by remote control from the control room as well as from throughout the facility.
• Coordinate and maintain unit availability with AGC, including planning for load reductions/increases based on system demands.
• Train personnel in other classifications in the proper operation of plant equipment, controls, and procedures.
• Direct the work of other classifications and assist as directed in completion of tasks.
