Job summary

Salt River Project in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Control Room Operator Trainee to complete the OST curriculum and advance to Operator Specialist. You will learn to operate coal, natural gas, and other units and work under limited supervision.

Based at the Kyrene Generating Plant, the role may include maintenance tasks and shift work as part of training. SRP offers comprehensive benefits and a path to promotion through the Operations Specialist program.

Qualifications

Must complete at least one year as an O&M Specialist III, Operations or equivalent skills and knowledge
A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
Must possess the appropriate valid Arizona driver’s license.
Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit test and training required.

Responsibilities

Learn to operate and monitor power plant equipment from the control room and field.
Coordinate and maintain unit availability with AGC for load changes.
Train personnel in plant equipment operation.
Follow SRP environmental and safety guidelines.
Direct the work of other classifications and assist as directed in task completion.
Role may include maintenance-type duties at the site as part of training.
