Job summary

Salt River Project (SRP) is seeking a motivated Control Room Operator trainee in Arizona to learn the full range of power plant operations. The role focuses on operating coal, natural gas, fuel oil fired units, and various turbine and storage units.

Training is designed to prepare you for promotion to Operations Specialist, with responsibilities spanning control room remote operations and on-site maintenance tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
• Must possess valid Arizona driver's license.
• Appropriate respirator medical certification, fit test and training required.

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate and monitor equipment and auxiliaries by remote control from the control room and throughout the plant.
• Operate units in charge and perform site maintenance tasks as needed.
• Coordinate and maintain unit availability with AGC and plan for load changes based on system demands.
• Operate units within SRP environmental guidelines and direct work of others as directed.
• Train personnel in proper operation of plant equipment and procedures.
• Learn how to evaluate plant processes and issue clearances per procedures.
