Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Stationary Engineer to operate and monitor the steam plant from the control room, ensuring reliable steam production for the downtown Indianapolis district energy network. You will oversee natural gas-fired boilers, monitor steam pressures, temperatures, and flows, respond to alarms, coordinate with field operators and maintenance, and assist with startups and shutdowns.

A strong safety mindset is required, with experience in DCS/SCADA, and a valid Stationary Engineer

Job Description

This person will operate and monitor the Steam Plant from the control room to ensure reliable steam production for district energy network. They will oversee natural gas-fired boilers, monitor steam pressures, temperatures, flows, and equipment performance through plant control systems, respond to alarms and abnormal conditions, and coordinate with field operators and maintenance personnel. They'll assist with plant startups, shutdowns, equipment troubleshooting, and operating adjustments to maintain safe and efficient steam generation while ensuring uninterrupted service to downtown Indianapolis customers.

Skills and Requirements

• Experience operating boilers, steam generation equipment, or industrial utility systems
• Control room, plant operations, power generation, refinery, chemical plant, district energy, or large industrial facility experience
• Experience monitoring plant operations through DCS, PLC, SCADA, or other control systems
• Understanding of steam systems, pumps, valves, compressors, and associated equipment
• Ability to respond to alarms, troubleshoot operational issues, and make adjustments to maintain safe operations
• Strong safety mindset and experience following operating procedures
• Stationary Engineer License or Boiler Operator Certification
• Combined Cycle, Power Plant, or Thermal Energy experience
• Experience with natural gas-fired boilers
• Knowledge of high-pressure steam systems
• Experience performing startup, shutdown, and load-balancing activities
• Union utility or district energy experience
