Job summary

Wärtsilä is seeking a Control Room Operator for our Power Plant team in Pecos, Texas. You will monitor and control plant systems to ensure safe and reliable energy production and will collaborate with maintenance and operations staff to maintain continuous power generation.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1+ year in a control room, with knowledge of SCADA/DCS/PLC, and familiarity with CMMS like IBM Maximo. Willingness to work night and weekend shifts is required.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience operating in a control room within an industrial plant environment.
• Working knowledge of SCADA, DCS, and/or PLC systems.
• Understanding of start‑up, synchronization, load management, and shutdown processes.
• Familiarity with CMMS, such as IBM Maximo.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions under pressure.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and control plant systems (e.g., SCADA/DCS) to ensure safe, reliable energy production.
• Execute plant start‑up, shutdown, and switching activities while responding to alarms and disturbances.
• Monitor system performance, identify abnormalities, and take corrective actions promptly.
• Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and shift handovers.
• Coordinate with maintenance teams to support preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards and procedures.
• Promote a safe, clean, and well‑organized control room and plant environment.
