About the role

As a Control Room Operator, you will execute approved plant start-up and shutdown procedures to ensure the facility meets its operational, environmental, and safety commitments while operating safely and efficiently. This position is located in Lorton, VA.

Position Responsibilities:

1. Provide guidance to Crane, Auxiliary, and Back Plant Operators to maintain safe and efficient operations.
2. Monitor Covanta operations systems and possess strong knowledge of boiler, turbine, and auxiliary equipment operations.
3. Read blueprints, P&ID's, and schematic specifications effectively.
4. Manage critical events, prioritize tasks during emergencies, and provide clear operational, safety, and environmental directions.
5. Respond promptly to operational alarms and take corrective actions.
6. Demonstrate understanding of operational best practices, problem-solving skills, and sound decision-making to support safety and operational goals.

Shift: Rotating 12-hour shifts on a 5 on, 2 off, 2 on, 5 off schedule. Schedule may change during outages and other circumstances.

Position Requirements & Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of ASME QRO Provisional Licensing exam within the first year of employment.
• Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts.
• Experience in a steam plant or related industry as a CRO, AO/ACRO, or similar role.
• Ability to demonstrate how your actions support Reworld Values and Behaviors, including safety, inclusivity, trust, and capability building.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb.
• Lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
• Work at heights and in confined spaces.
• Qualify to wear a full-face respirator.
• Work in various weather conditions.
