Job summary

The Dogwood Energy Facility near Pleasant Hill, MO, seeks a Control Room Operator to safely operate a 625 MW natural gas combined-cycle plant. The CRO will monitor systems, respond to alarms, run start-ups/shutdowns, and maintain logs to support grid readiness and reliability.

Under DuPont’s 12-hour rotating shifts, the role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and hands-on plant operation across turbines, HRSGs, and auxiliary systems. A valid U.S. driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience in power plant operations with focus on control room management and system monitoring.
• Preferred experience with large-frame gas turbines and combined-cycle plants.
• Strong understanding of plant equipment, systems, safety, and environmental procedures.
• Knowledge of combustion and steam turbine operations and related inspections.
• Experience in water chemistry control and water treatment operations.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervisory abilities.
• Proven adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up, operation, and shutdown of all plant equipment in compliance with safety and operational standards.
• Monitor plant systems and respond to alarms to ensure readiness for market operations.
• Maintain daily logs of electrical output, steam output, emissions, fuel use, water use, and heat rates.
• Coordinate troubleshooting and corrective actions with the maintenance team.
• Support safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance programs across shifts.
• Conduct shift handovers and train staff to enhance operational competency.
• Assist in Lockout/Tagout, procedure reviews, and plant documentation.
• Report abnormalities promptly and participate in updating plant procedures.
