Job summary

Aerotek is seeking a Control Panel Wiring Technician / Panel Assembler to build and wire industrial control panels in a Decatur, AL facility. You will assemble components from schematics, perform precise point-to-point wiring, conduct testing, and ensure panels meet UL 508A standards.

The role offers a Monday–Friday daytime, fully onsite, with pay between $20.00 and $28.00 per hour and a benefits package. Emphasis is on precision, safety, and teamwork in a climate-controlled shop.

Qualifications

  • Experience wiring and building industrial control panels from schematics.
  • Ability to read electrical diagrams, blueprints, and ladder logic.
  • Skilled with point-to-point wiring, wiring routing, and terminal blocks.
  • Familiarity with UL 508A standards and safety practices.
  • Proficient with multimeter testing for wiring integrity.

Job Title: Control Panel Wiring Technician / Panel Assembler
Job Description

This role focuses on building and wiring industrial control panels from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams. You assemble components inside control cabinets, perform precise point-to-point wiring, and ensure neat, organized panel layouts that meet industrial and UL 508A standards. You use hand tools and test equipment to complete electrical assembly, troubleshoot issues, and verify proper panel operation.

Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble industrial control panels and control cabinets according to electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and work instructions.
  • Perform point-to-point wiring, wire routing, and wire termination inside control panels and control enclosures.
  • Install and wire relays, contactors, terminal blocks, PLCs, and other industrial control components.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and ladder logic to complete panel wiring accurately.
  • Organize and route wiring to ensure neat, professional, and clearly labeled panel layouts with proper cable management.
  • Perform electrical assembly tasks including harness building, cable assembly, soldering (where required), and low voltage wiring.
  • Conduct electrical testing such as continuity testing using a multimeter to verify wiring integrity and correct connections.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and wiring issues within control panels and industrial control systems, making corrections as needed.
  • Follow UL 508A and relevant industrial control standards when assembling and wiring control panels.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure all work meets quality, safety, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with a small team to complete panel builds on schedule and communicate any design or wiring discrepancies.
Essential Skills
  • Proven experience with control panel wiring and panel building for industrial control systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and ladder logic.
  • Hands‑on experience with point‑to‑point wiring, wire routing, and wire termination inside control cabinets.
  • Proficiency in electrical assembly, including installation of relays, contactors, terminal blocks, PLCs, and other control components.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage wiring and industrial controls for automation equipment and control systems.
  • Ability to use a multimeter and perform electrical testing, including continuity testing and basic electrical troubleshooting.
  • Comfort and dexterity using hand tools for manual assembly and electrical wiring throughout the workday.
  • Ability to maintain neat and organized wiring and panel layouts with strong attention to detail.
  • Capability to follow written work instructions and technical documentation accurately.
  • Basic understanding of UL 508A requirements and good practices for control panel construction.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with harness building, cable assembly, and cable management within control enclosures.
  • Familiarity with PLC wiring and integration within industrial control panels.
  • Experience with electronic assembly and soldering for electrical and electronic components.
  • Background working with automation equipment and industrial control systems.
  • Comfort reading and working from detailed blueprints and engineering documentation.
  • Ability to identify and resolve wiring discrepancies or design issues in collaboration with engineering or production teams.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $28.00/hr.
