Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Assembler – 2nd Shift
Job Description

This 2nd shift Mechanical Assembler role focuses on building solar panel power boxes and switchboards in the AC, DC, and wire departments. You will work in a clean, quiet manufacturing facility, assembling products by hand using basic tools and following detailed prints. The position emphasizes teamwork, cross-training between wire and DC teams, and on-the-job learning for individuals with basic or entry-level assembly experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble solar panel power boxes and switchboards using hand tools, air power tools, and torque wrenches.
  • Work within the AC, DC, and wire departments, with the goal of becoming cross-trained across multiple areas.
  • Review daily job setups, including panel boxes, switchboards, wire, and related components prepared on shelves for assembly.
  • Read and interpret prints to determine where parts and components must be installed on the back of panels and within power boxes.
  • Pull wire, spool wire, and feed wires through panels and metal plates according to specifications.
  • Strip wires and secure them into metal plates and other components to complete power box assemblies.
  • Use screws, nuts, bolts, and other fasteners to assemble products accurately and securely.
  • Work as part of a non-automated assembly line, collaborating closely with team members in a specific work area such as wire spooling or mechanical assembly.
  • Maintain an expected production rate of approximately 64 panels per day once fully trained and up to speed.
  • Follow safety procedures and use provided personal protective equipment while working with tools and materials.
  • Lift and move components and materials weighing up to 40 pounds as part of daily tasks.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret basic prints and diagrams (if you can read simple pictorial instructions, you can learn these prints).
  • Ability to accurately read a tape measure.
  • Experience using basic hand tools such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and similar tools.
  • Comfort working with power tools and air tools under guidance and training.
  • Ability to perform repetitive manual tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Capability to lift up to 40 pounds regularly.
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift hours, approximately 3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small team in a manufacturing environment.
  • Openness to on-the-job training and learning new mechanical assembly skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience operating a foot pedal crimper is a plus.
  • Familiarity with pneumatic tools is an advantage.
  • Basic or entry-level knowledge of mechanical or electrical assembly.
  • Interest in gaining experience with AC/DC and wiring-related work.
  • Comfort working in a non-temperature-controlled environment with fans.
  • Willingness to be cross-trained between wire and DC teams to support multiple production areas.
Why Work Here?

You will join a clean, team-oriented, and laid-back work environment that values collaboration and learning. The company provides on-the-job training, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals with basic or entry-level assembly experience who want to grow their skills and build a long-term career in manufacturing. You will work in small, close-knit teams, benefit from a supportive culture, and have the chance to contribute as the shift and department continue to grow.

Work Environment

The role is based in a large, very clean and quiet manufacturing facility focused on manual assembly work. You will work on 2nd shift, typically from 3:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, as part of small teams of roughly 4–6 people, with around 20 people on the shift as it continues to build out. The assembly line is non-automated and team-based, and you will also participate in wire spooling activities. The facility uses fans and is not temperature controlled, so conditions may vary with the seasons. The work involves manual labor, including lifting up to 40 pounds and standing for extended periods. The dress code is casual but safety-focused: shirts with sleeves (short or long), shorts or pants without holes, and steel-toe boots are required. You may wear headphones with one earbud during work. Safety glasses and gloves are provided as needed, and referrals are welcomed as the shift continues to grow.
