Panel Assembler in Nashville, TN

Job Description

The Panel Assembler builds electrical control panels for automated sorting equipment by following wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints. This role involves precise electrical and mechanical assembly, use of hand and power tools, and participation in testing and quality assurance to ensure reliable, high-performing control panels.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble electrical control panels according to wiring diagrams, schematics, and engineering drawings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and simple wiring diagrams to guide assembly work.
  • Cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Use common hand tools and light power tools safely and effectively during assembly.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical assembly tasks as required for panel construction.
  • Conduct basic quality checks on assembled panels to identify and correct defects.
  • Assist in testing control panels for proper functionality and overall quality assurance.
  • Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and support continuous improvement efforts.
Essential Skills
  • At least 2+ years of experience in panel building or electrical panel assembly.
  • Proven experience in electrical assembly or mechanical assembly in a production or shop environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and basic blueprints.
  • Competence in cutting, stripping, crimping, and terminating wires with consistent quality.
  • Proficiency using common hand tools and light power tools for assembly work.
  • Basic aptitude for electrical assembly and understanding of electrical components.
  • Mechanical aptitude with good manual dexterity for detailed assembly tasks.
  • Ability to perform quality checks and recognize defects in assembled panels.

  • Willingness to learn and improve skills in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Experience working with both electrical and mechanical components in an assembly environment.

Work Environment

You will work in a shop that builds robotic sorters for the recycling industry, focusing on automated sorting machines that separate recyclable materials. The primary shop environment is clean and temperature controlled, providing a comfortable and organized setting for electrical and mechanical assembly work. The standard schedule is a first-shift, four-day workweek from Monday through Thursday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some work may involve exposure to customer sites in the recycling industry, where the environment can be messy due to handling and processing of recyclable materials.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Nashville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
