Job summary

A leading company in medical technology is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to lead the design and development of control systems for a new medical isotope production facility. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, 5 to 20+ years of relevant PLC and/or DCS programming experience, and strong knowledge of I&C systems. Design and lead control systems that power a next-generation medical isotope production facility.

Job Description:

We are seeking an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Engineer to support the design, development, procurement, construction, installation, and testing of control and monitoring systems for a new medical isotope production facility. This role works as part of a highly collaborative engineering team responsible for control system architecture, instrument selection, and integration across complex process systems.

Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary interface between project stakeholders and the I&C engineering team
• Provide input to project schedules related to design effort, task duration, and resource requirements
• Drive decisions related to vendor requests, design changes, equipment updates, and programming modifications
• Act as the responsible engineer for assigned I&C equipment, guiding it through design, procurement, construction, and commissioning while ensuring design compliance
• Oversee development of digital and analog control systems including DCS, PLC, and DAQ systems through review of vendor deliverables
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to select instrumentation for measuring process variables across facility systems
• Coordinate with auxiliary systems teams to ensure proper power distribution to I&C equipment

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline
• 5 to 20+ years of relevant PLC and/or DCS programming experience
• Strong knowledge of I&C systems including hardware, software, theory of operation, environmental and seismic qualification, and plant startups
• PLC and/or DCS programming experience
