We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Controls Designer to lead the design and documentation of UL508A control panels, with a primary focus on using EPLAN software. The Controls Designer will play a vital cross-functional role, supporting both the production and sales teams by ensuring that all designs are accurate and Bill of Materials (BOMs) are complete and correct.

This role involves creating new designs, reviewing customer-supplied schematics, and working collaboratively with engineering, operations, and sales personnel. While EPLAN will be the main design tool, experience with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is required, and EPLAN training will be provided if needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and document electrical schematics and control panel layouts using EPLAN (primary tool).
• Use AutoCAD and SolidWorks to support panel layouts, enclosure design, and integration tasks.
• Review and validate both internal and customer-supplied control panel designs to ensure they meet UL508A standards and company requirements.
• Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are manufacturable, complete, and easy to interpret.
• Support the sales team by verifying design feasibility, identifying missing information, and ensuring BOM accuracy for quoting and planning.
• Create and manage Bills of Materials (BOMs); ensure components are correctly specified and aligned with procurement requirements.
• Provide support during panel assembly and testing, and assist with troubleshooting as needed.
• Participate in design reviews, documentation control, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience designing and building UL508A control panels.
• Experience with EPLAN is preferred; training will be provided.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks and AutoCAD is required.
• Understanding of electrical design principles, industrial automation components, and panel layout practices.
• Ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and customer documentation.
• Strong organizational skills, with attention to detail and commitment to design accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across departments.
• An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field is preferred.
