Job summary

EmployBridge is seeking an experienced Controls Design Engineer to join our growing engineering team that develops advanced machine tool control systems for high-volume manufacturing environments.

You will take projects from concept through design, programming, startup, commissioning and customer acceptance, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver safe, reliable, simple, and cost-effective automation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Controls Engineering or related field.
  • 5–7 years of controls engineering experience within machine tools, automation, or related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of machine control systems that meet customer and engineering specifications.
  • Program PLCs and machine controllers to meet operational and performance requirements.
  • Create and review electrical schematics, control layouts, and supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate design reviews with cross-functional engineering teams.
  • Manage project documentation, approvals, and engineering records.
  • Source electrical control components and support procurement activities.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams during machine build, startup, and debugging phases.
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities.
  • Provide technical support to service, sales, and parts teams as required.
  • Research emerging technologies and recommend improvements to future machine designs.

I'm recruiting for an experienced Controls Design Engineer to join a growing engineering team that develops advanced machine tool control systems supporting high-volume manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the design of machine control systems that meet customer and engineering specifications
  • Develop electrical control architectures with a focus on safety, reliability, simplicity, and cost effectiveness
  • Program PLCs and machine controllers to meet operational and performance requirements
  • Create and review electrical schematics, control layouts, and supporting documentation
  • Coordinate design reviews with cross-functional engineering teams
  • Manage project documentation, approvals, and engineering records
  • Source electrical control components and support procurement activities
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams during machine build, startup, and debugging phases
  • Support equipment installation, commissioning, and customer acceptance activities

Qualifications

Required Skills
  • Strong experience designing and programming industrial control systems
  • Working knowledge of:
  • Fanuc PLCs
  • SolidWorks
  • EPLAN and/or AutoCAD Electrical
  • HMI software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems
Preferred Skills
  • Experience supporting internal combustion engine, powertrain, or automotive manufacturing applications
Pay range and compensation package

Up to 5% Domestic Travel
