Job summary

Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York seeks a Contracts Coordinator to support the Office of General Counsel in vendor contract review, negotiation, and approval. This hybrid role partners with attorneys and business services to manage intake, cross‑functional reviews, and contract execution.

You will maintain contract databases, draft redlines, update templates, and coordinate with internal teams on data privacy addenda, while upholding confidentiality and high-volume accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of three years of related experience in a law firm or professional services environment.
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist attorneys in review of agreements on behalf of the Firm and clients.
  • Review and revise contract language to include standard provisions.
  • Review and update defined terms and cross references in agreements.
  • Prepare redlines and comparison documents for proposed revisions.
  • Track contracts through the review process and gather comments.
  • Maintain database of executed contracts.
  • Maintain templates and develop updated language and processes.
  • Create new templates for new vendors as needed.
  • Coordinate with attorneys and business services to review terms.
  • Assist with data privacy addenda in consultation with the data privacy manager.
  • Communicate with attorneys, vendors and staff as needed.
  • Develop project strategies for efficient task completion.
  • Manage Firm resources responsibly.
  • Maintain regular and reliable physical presence.
  • Comply with Firm policies and procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Contracts Coordinator to join our Firm. This position will be based in our New York office (hybrid). The Contracts Coordinator provides assistance to attorneys in the Office of General Counsel throughout the lifecycle of vendor contract review, negotiation, and approval. This position manages the intake of new vendor requests, coordination of cross‑functional contract reviews, and tracking of all contracts through execution. The Contracts Coordinator acts as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders and external vendors, ensuring that all contractual arrangements align with the Firm's legal, operational, and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Assists attorneys in the Office of General Counsel with review of agreements on behalf of the Firm and the Firm's clients.
  • Reviews and revises contract language to ensure the Firm's standard provisions are included.
  • Reviews and updates defined terms and cross references in agreements.
  • Prepares redlines and comparison documents to clearly communicate proposed contract revisions to attorneys and counterparties.
  • Tracks contracts throughout the review process, ensuring all necessary parties review and provide comments as needed.
  • Maintains database of executed contracts.
  • Maintains template contracts, updating with current language and developing processes to ensure language is reviewed regularly.
  • Creates new template contracts as needed for new vendors.
  • Communicates effectively and professionally with attorneys and business services professionals from Intellectual Property, Labor and Employment, Information Technology, Data Privacy, Finance, Legal Technology, and other relevant departments to coordinate review of applicable contract terms.
  • Assists with preparation of relevant data privacy addenda in consultation with the Firm's data privacy manager.
  • Communicates with attorneys, business services professionals, external vendors and other parties as needed.
  • Develops project strategies to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
  • Manages Firm resources responsibly.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

The starting base salary for this position is expected to be within the range listed under Salary Details. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other‑job related factors, consistent with applicable law.

Salary Details

$80,000 - $90,000
