Position Summary

The Contracts Administration Manager is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks that could impact the success, safety, and financial performance of construction projects. They work across the project lifecycle, from planning to completion, to protect company assets, reduce liability, and ensure compliance with legal, safety, and insurance requirements.

Essential Functions/Position Responsibilities

• Adheres to and promotes all Company Safety Policies and the Company Code of Conduct.
• Manages the contracts administration staff and guides compliance with complex contractual and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure contracts are administered and monitored to maintain compliance with the terms of the contracts.
• Analyze project plans, contracts, site conditions, and industry trends to detect potential threats such as safety hazards, financial shortfalls, and regulatory changes.
• Review contracts, subcontracts and purchase orders to identify risk transfer, retention, and allocation points; negotiate clauses to reduce company exposure.
• Provide guidance to Company on best practices for contract risk mitigation. Facilitate proactive action to issue and negotiate master agreements with regular subcontractors and vendors. Create and maintain agreement templates with acceptable deviations from standard terms and conditions.
• Develop and implement risk management policies, train staff on risk awareness, and communicate risk strategies to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project managers, legal, HR, procurement, and subcontractors to align risk management with project goals.
• Additional duties as assigned to meet business needs.

Supervisory Responsibilities

• Two or more Contract Administrators as business requires.

Hiring Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field and 10 years of experience in the construction industry.
• NCMA Certified Professional Contract Manager (CPCM) or equivalent certifications.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction risk management or closely related field.
• Three years of supervisory experience with authority for personnel actions.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills for risk modeling and data interpretation.
• Strong understanding of the contract life cycle, types of contracts, and applicable government regulations.
• Contract and insurance expertise in construction.
• Expert level negotiation skills.
• Project management and stakeholder communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize risks and make decisions under uncertainty.
• Knowledge of safety regulations, compliance, and corporate governance.
• Manage internal processes for drafting, negotiating, enforcing and document control related to all contractual documentation.
• Knowledge of and experience with use of AI supported contract review and redlining tools.
• Proficiency in ERP systems.
• OSHA 10 Construction Certification, or ability to obtain during pre-employment (company provided online training).
• Pass pre-employment drug screen and fitness for duty exam.
