Job summary

Marvin in Arab, AL is seeking a Contractor Sales Representative to build relationships with contractors and professional customers. You will leverage knowledge of lumber, hardware and building materials to drive sales, prepare quotes, and coordinate deliveries.

Ideal candidates have 2–3+ years in building materials sales, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage quotes, orders and customer needs in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• 2–3+ years of sales experience in building materials or related industry.
• Experience working with contractors, builders or remodelers preferred.
• Solid knowledge of lumber, building materials and hardware.
• Blueprint reading or material takeoff experience a plus.
• Strong communication, organization and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to safely lift up to 100 lbs., climb ladders and work in store, yard, warehouse and jobsites.

Responsibilities

• Build and grow relationships with contractors, builders, remodelers and professional customers.
• Prospect for new customers through phone calls, visits and networking.
• Provide expert product recommendations and solutions.
• Prepare quotes, material takeoffs and special orders.
• Coordinate jobsite deliveries and special requirements.
• Follow up on quotes and projects to win business and keep customers coming back.
• Stay informed on competitor products and pricing.
• Process customer orders accurately using POS systems.
• Maintain sales and gross margin goals.
• Keep management updated on sales activity, customer opportunities and upcoming projects.
