Job summary

Sunbelt Staffing is seeking a skilled Operating Room Technician (ORT) and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) for a contract role in a hospital setting. You will support surgeons, nurses, and the surgical team throughout procedures, ensuring sterile technique and patient safety.

Ideal candidates hold CST, have OR experience in acute care, and can reliably manage instrumentation and specimens. BLS certification and strong teamwork are required.

Qualifications

• Current national CST certification.
• Experience as OR Technician or Surgical Technologist in an acute care or hospital environment.
• Solid knowledge of sterile technique and infection control practices.
• Proficiency with surgical instrumentation, setup, and specimen handling.
• Ability to anticipate needs of the surgical team during operations.
• Collaborative approach with strong communication skills.
• Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Demonstrated reliability and a commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain the sterile field before and during surgeries.
• Assist with equipment setup and preparation of surgical instruments and supplies.
• Partner closely with surgical team members to ensure optimal patient care.
• Accurately handle specimens and surgical tools, following established protocols.
• Support the smooth flow of cases by anticipating surgeon and nurse needs.
• Maintain detailed, accurate records of surgical supplies and equipment usage.
• Participate actively in department meetings and continuing education.
