Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking a Contract Surety Underwriter at either the Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter level to manage large contract surety accounts across the West region. Travel about 20% and strong broker relationships are key to success.

The role requires experience in surety lines, collaboration, and adherence to regulatory guidelines. Eligible locations include several Western states and CA with hybrid work.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years in Underwriting/Finance/Market Facing area OR
• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 6+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 1+ years in Underwriting/Market Facing area OR
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an associate degree and 4+ years in Claims or Underwriting Support area AND
• Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines
• Knowledge of time restraints for quotes on new and renewal business
• Experience with Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

• Underwriting and analyzing new and renewal business for large contract surety
• Navigating complex assignments with confidence and autonomy
• Building and maintaining strategic broker and agency relationships
• Ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements
