Job summary

Top Echelon Software, LLC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a Rockville, MD contract position (3 months + potential for perm) with a M-F 8am–4:30pm schedule. The main duties involve blood draws, specimen labeling and transport, and ensuring accurate patient data.

Requirements: valid phlebotomy certification, at least 2 years venipuncture experience in fast-paced labs or hospitals, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. OSHA/DEP guidelines must be followed.

Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed.
• Minimum of 2 years of venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Properly explains the venipuncture process clearly and courteously as required.
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.
• Fully understand all physicians' orders.
• Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.
• Package specimens for transport; store specimens per required temperatures and protocols.
• Attend annual department trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
