Job summary

MDS Staffing seeks a Phlebotomist for a float contract covering multiple locations in the Albany area. Schedule is Monday-Friday with start times as early as 6:30am and end times as late as 5:30pm. The position runs for about 3 months with potential to extend into permanent employment.

Responsibilities include blood draws, labeling and processing of specimens, proper specimen transport, and adherence to OSHA/DEP regulations. A valid phlebotomy certification and data accuracy are required.

Qualifications

• Must have phlebotomy experience and state certification where required.
• Minimum 6 months venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• High school diploma or GED required, proficiency with MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws and venipuncture with proper technique.
• Label specimens, centrifuge and process as required.
• Record maintenance data and ensure accurate patient information.
• Explain venipuncture procedure clearly and courteously to patients.
• Label, centrifuge, and aliquot specimens per test orders.
• Package specimens for transport and maintain sample integrity.
• Attend annual department trainings and comply with OSHA/DEP regulations.
