Qualifications

• Valid phlebotomy certification as required by state of employment.
• Minimum 6 months' venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High school diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explains venipuncture process clearly and courteously to patients.
• Demonstrates technique using straight needles and butterfly needles.
• Interprets physicians' orders and matches requisition forms to specimens.
• Packages specimens for transport and stores at required temperatures.
• Complies with OSHA and DEP regulations; attends annual trainings.
• Answers phone inquiries and communicates lab results as needed.
