Job summary

Joseph Michaels International has a contract opportunity for a Phlebotomist (Job code 6244) covering multiple Albany-area sites including Castleton, Delmar, Catskill, Schenectady, and more. The role requires 2 years of phlebotomy experience and a state certification where employed, with typical hours 6:30am–5:30pm, Monday–Friday.

The phlebotomist will perform blood draws, label specimens, ensure proper handling, and support quality processes.

Qualifications

• Certification required in the state where employed
• Minimum 6 months venipuncture experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge and decontaminate as required
• Collect and store specimens according to procedures
• Explain venipuncture process clearly and courteously
• Demonstrate technique with straight or butterfly needles and align with physician orders
• Label, centrifuge, split and freeze specimens per test order
• Check test requisitions against labels to ensure accuracy
• Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity
