Hire Consulting Services in New York seeks a licensed phlebotomist for a contract position in Castleton-on-Hudson and Latham. Responsibilities include blood draws, specimen labeling, and data entry, with attention to accuracy and safety.

The assignment lasts about 3 months with potential for permanent hire. Requires 6 months venipuncture experience, valid phlebotomy certification, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Schedule is Monday–Friday 7:30 am–4:00 pm with alternating Saturdays.

Qualifications

• 6 months venipuncture experience in fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Valid phlebotomy certification required in some states.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

• Experience doing blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, updating patient information.
• Collects and stores specimens according to established procedures.
• Explain the venipuncture process clearly and courteously.
• Demonstrate technique with straight needles and butterflies; match lab orders to specimen tubes.
• Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
• Store specimens at required temperatures and ensure transport integrity.
• Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations; attend annual trainings.
• Answer telephone calls and read lab results to satisfy inquiries.
