Job summary

Cogent Scientific, an insourced contract research organization, is seeking a Contract Pharma Sample Management Coordinator at our New York City location. The position is onsite, day shift (approximately 8a–5p), with an initial ~6 months and potential extension up to 12 months.

Responsibilities include organizing sample storage, archiving plasmids/cell lines, inventory control, and handling sample receiving/shipping.

Qualifications

• BA or BS in Biology or related field with 0-1 year of industrial lab/academic research experience.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with LIMS or electronic notebook systems desirable.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Enthusiastic, self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment.

• Depositing and archiving plasmids and cell lines in the company's repository and banks.
• Maintaining inventory and detailed documentation of cell lines.
• Managing sample receiving and shipping.
• Utilizing tissue culture techniques such as cell propagation and cell maintenance to aid in cell line authentication, sequencing, and cell banking efforts.
• Assisting in the automation and tracking of samples.
• Organizing and managing sample storage in freezers and liquid nitrogen tanks.

We currently have a role available for a Contract Pharma Sample Management Coordinator. This position would last approx. 6 months and may extend to 12 months (no guarantee of length). Providing successful completion of assignment, employee would be considered for other roles with Cogent Scientific at the New York City location.

Job duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Depositing and archiving plasmids and cell lines in the company's repository and banks.

Job requirements include, but are not limited to, the following:

• BA or BS-Biology, Cell Biology, or related field with 0-1 year of industrial lab and/or academic research experience.

• Must have excellent organizational skills and be detail oriented.

• Must be proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).

• Experience with a LIMS system and/or an electronic notebook system is desirable.

• Ability to work well both independently and within a team.

• The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with the leadership and communication skills necessary to operate effectively in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment with flexibility and an adaptable approach to goal delivery.

This is an onsite, day shift position (approx. 8a-5p local time).
