Job summary

Beacon Hill Staffing Group, LLC is seeking a Payroll Tax Consultant in Goodlettsville, TN, on a contract basis (4–6 months, with extensions possible). You will handle day-to-day payroll tax operations, resolve tax notices, and ensure accurate W-2 processing and compliance across states.

Applicants should have 3+ years of payroll tax experience, knowledge of federal/state/local taxes, and proficiency with Excel. CPP preferred; ADP SmartCompliance experience is a plus. 40-hour weeks, 8a-5p.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of payroll tax calculation experience and filing experience in a high-volume, multi-state environment.
• CPP preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxes and relevant government regulations.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook.
• Experience researching and resolving tax notices.
• Experience preparing and filing manual and amended tax returns.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operational work, including tax notice resolution, tax research, manual tax filings, amended returns, reconciliations, and general payroll tax compliance activities.
• Ensure compliance of all taxes withheld are paid and filed timely.
• Research and resolve tax notices in a timely manner including SUI rates and wage base limits.
• Assist with validation and balancing of W-2 forms and reconciliation of W-2 management reports.
• Responsible for issuance of W2c's when needed and ensure amendment requests are submitted to CTS.
• Perform daily and weekly audits to validate the accuracy of the tax setup based on residence and work locations.
• Balance tax reports with payroll files to ensure both are accurate.
• Enter and review adjustments processed with payroll to ensure tax history updates are correct.
• Audit and review local, state, and federal changes on a continuous basis to ensure compliance.
