Job summary

Electrify America is seeking a Contract Software Engineer II – Backend with strong Java backend skills to own features and fixes, collaborating with senior engineers to ensure quality and timely delivery.

You will work in Reston, VA, deliver backend services using Spring Boot and REST, and contribute to test coverage while participating in Agile ceremonies. This role offers full-time hours with remote work by agreement and a fixed-term contract.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend software development experience.
• Proficiency in Java; Spring Boot experience preferred.
• Experience with REST API development.
• Exposure to databases: Postgres and/or MongoDB.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Independently deliver backend features and bug fixes in Java, meeting sprint commitments.
• Write clean, well-structured code and maintain quality.
• Collaborate with teammates to unblock blockers and share knowledge.
• Grow test coverage with unit and integration tests across initiatives.
• Participate in Agile rituals: standups, sprint planning, retrospectives.
