Job summary

Nelson Connects is seeking an Accounting Supervisor for a contract role in American Canyon, CA, onsite. You will oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, audits, and the accounting team, with responsibility for GL, AP/AR, month-end close, and compliance.

The position requires a Bachelor's in accounting with 5+ years of experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a nonprofit/agency environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; 5+ years of accounting experience.
• Experience in full-cycle accounting: GL, AP/AR, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting.
• Nonprofit, grant, retail, or AP/AR experience preferred.
• Experience with accounting software and strong spreadsheet development.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support all accounting staff and maintain procedures.
• Oversee weekly AP/AR processing, cash-flow reporting, and aging reports.
• Manage monthly close calendar, journal entries, and general ledger.
• Prepare monthly balance-sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies.
• Reconcile fixed-asset records and maintain asset listings.
• Prepare monthly financial statements and analytical reports.
• Assist with annual budgets and budgeting templates.
• Review annual 1099s and ensure vendor/IRS filings.
• Prepare audit documentation and coordinate audit requests.
• Conduct bank deposits, change runs, and inventory management.
• Maintain compliance with agency fiscal policies and provide customer service.
