Job summary

SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Saint Louis seeks an experienced Continuous Improvement Specialist to coach leaders in deploying the operating model and CI methodologies. You’ll partner with frontline teams to identify opportunities, solve problems, and drive sustainability across processes and performance metrics.

The role focuses on leading improvement initiatives, training leaders, and enabling teams to deliver measurable outcomes aligned with the organization’s mission.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One year of professional experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a coach to departments and functional leaders on implementing the operating model.
  • Builds a culture of continuous learning and enablement through deployment of the model.
  • Supports curriculum development through observation and feedback.
  • Coordinates and leads key improvement initiatives with workshops and trainings.

As a Continuous Improvement Specialist, you’ll help transform the way healthcare is delivered by partnering with leaders and frontline teams to identify opportunities, solve complex challenges, and implement sustainable improvements. In this role, you’ll utilize data, process improvement methodologies, and collaborative problem-solving to streamline workflows, enhance operational performance, improve patient and caregiver experiences, and support organizational excellence. You’ll facilitate improvement initiatives, analyze performance metrics, lead change efforts, and help teams achieve measurable results that advance our Mission and strategic priorities. Scheduling & Logistics
  • The position is fully onsite.
  • Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Job Summary

Supports assigned areas through the coaching and development of functional and front line leaders on the administration, deployment and technical aspects of organization’s operating model. Works closely with assigned leadership to surface needs and plan appropriate responses. Facilitates activities based on needs, and delivers educational content to leaders and teams related to operating model and CI methodology. Assists in identifying, monitoring and mentoring leaders to improve outcomes using systems and elements in the operating model.

Job Responsibilities and Requirements
Primary Responsibilities
  • Serves as a coach to departments and/or functional leaders on the implementation and deployment of organization’s operating model.
  • Builds a culture of continuous learning and enablement through the deployment of organization’s operating model.
  • Supports curriculum development through observation, providing formal and informal feedback.
  • Coordinates and leads key improvement initiatives while acting as a coach to internal teams; coordinating workshops, team trainings, and openly sharing technical expertise related to operating model to ensure continued adoption of the systems and elements.
  • Coaches and develops a problem-solving culture at all levels of the organization.
  • Facilitates in-person or virtual “train the trainer” sessions in a professional, articulate manner that clearly demonstrates mission and values.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience
  • One year of experience in a professional setting
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication. Ability to hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting and gripping.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Rare climbing.
