Job summary

BARNES is seeking a student engineer to support manufacturing operations in Warren, MI. You will assist with creating routing instructions, work instructions, and inspection reports while learning to resolve non-conformances and support process improvements.

The role emphasizes practical CAD/MS Office use, tooling modifications, and coordination with the CI Manager in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with power/hand tools and measurement devices is a plus
• CAD experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Work directly with CI Manager on various assignments
• Generate standardized manufacturing routing instructions
• Create manufacturing work instruction redlines
• Resolve product non-conformance and translate resolution into rework instructions
• Support process improvement initiatives to improve cost, schedule and quality
• Modify tooling design for production efficiency
• Generate inspection work instructions
• Generate inspection reports for customer review
• Review OEM technical data revision status
• Upload documents into the technical library
• Perform other duties as assigned

Core Responsibilities

• Working directly with CI Manager on various assignments
• Generating standardized manufacturing routing instructions.
• Creating manufacturing work instruction redlines.
• Resolving product non-conformance, coordinating with the disposition and translating resolution into manufacturing order rework instructions.
• Supporting implementation of process improvement initiatives aimed at improving cost, schedule and quality.
• Tooling design modifications for improved production efficiency
• Generating Inspection work instructions
• Generating inspection reports for customer review
• Reviewing OEM technical data revision status
• Uploading documents into business online technical library
• Performs other duties as assigned

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, or related.
